What We Do
Today's standards in technology education suggest that computers are used primarily as tools to support traditional curricula. At Action Bits, we go beyond these standards by teaching technology as a distinct subject, promoting understanding of its wide-ranging effects and the responsibilities it entails.
How We Do It
Teach the basic principles of computer science.
Expose students to widely-used software applications in the context of their own work.
Encompass and exceed state and federal goals for technology in the classroom.
Promote understanding of the impact computers are having on society, and their place in a well-balanced life.
Our Story
Each of us approached the path from different angles but were attracted to the path and remain on the path for the same reasons. We find ourselves ever eager to explore the blend of art and science unique to the realm of computer science. We indulge our entrepreneurial characteristics by laying the foundations for a new and ever-changing field and migrated westward along with the rest of the pioneers of California's Silicon Valley.
After approximately fifteen years of running the gamut of being employed by the largest computer hardware and software companies on the planet to being single-digit employees in start-up garage works which lined our home offices with useless first-edition stock certificates, we opted for the flexibility of becoming self-employed in order to devote more time to our families.
From there it was a natural step to become involved in our childrens' education and to contribute our time and collective talents to schools and churches. Along with our desire to make the world a little bit better for the next generation, we yearn to empower the children of California with the knowledge, skills and eagerness to give them their chance at living the California dream.
We are especially dedicated to inspiring girls and young women to pursue careers in computer and technology.
